Special recognition for volunteers working at the British Grand Prix (11-6-09) | ||
Go Motorsport is rewarding some of the hundreds of volunteers working at the Santander British Grand Prix (19-21 June) with exclusive visits to the Formula One pits and paddock. More than a thousand volunteers - including track marshals, timekeepers, medical personnel and technical scrutineers - will be giving up their time to make next weekend's Grand Prix possible. In conjunction with RBS, title sponsor of the Williams F1 team, Go Motorsport has set up a lucky draw |

competition to provide 30 of these dedicated volunteers with special behind-the-scenes pits and paddock tours on Thursday afternoon, the eve of track action commencing. "We are delighted that RBS has given us this chance to reward some of those volunteers working at Silverstone with a very special insight into Formula One. Part of Go Motorsport's mandate is to encourage more people to get closer to the sport by volunteering - they fill many roles that are vital to the organisation and running of events whether that's the British Grand Prix or a local club event. This prize draw will not only go some way to acknowledging the hard work of those already volunteering but also help to persuade others to get involved. It's no exaggeration to say that without the support of these volunteers much of our sport wouldn't exist," states Colin Hilton, Motor Sports Association Chief Executive. "This is a great opportunity for marshals to get a taste of the excitement of the Grand Prix. We have hundreds of volunteers at the event, all giving their time for free, and this is just recognition for some of their sterling efforts," confirms David Pierre, Chairman of the MSA's Volunteer Officials Advisory Panel. |
